Right so as I say my pyjamas from Bonsoir are perfect (solid light blue with navy piping) so of course they don’t sell them anymore, but these are directionally correct; cotton, pointed collar, British.

Apparently pigskin is hard wearing, I wouldn’t know but once these are waterproofed they darken up and feel nice.

Yes this is truly a humble stack, but I can almost guarantee you that I’ve wasted more money on ampules, Glutathione gel, generics from India, even some BPC-157 (the small needle part was actually fun) and more capsules than you want to know about. And aside from the horse aspirin and L-Arginine, which although unpictured I can still heartily recommend, Lactoferrin (600mg first thing in the morning, seemingly great for the skin and I think it might be GLP1-ing my face), seed oil-free Vitamin D, and Creatine I can’t currently rate anything else a Strong Buy.

Something I forgot to mention is that free push-up apps are pretty fun. Your phone’s camera counts each rep, you hit save and you’re out. Silly but helpful and a bit of a wake-up call when you’ve realize you’ve missed more days than you thought.

OK, that was The Stud 1978. It has its weak spots, extended scene of an ugly dude disco dancing with a bunch of “birds”. But Tony has a group of buddies and I like their chat and the character’s arc. It’s an interesting time capsule.

Episode 15 covered American guys on the make so now it’s London’s turn. I pod pretty hard about the gems so I’ll just mention that The Reckoning 1970 is my favorite out of the bunch so I can get all four titles in the post in the event Substack deigns to include me in search results.

Not much more to add regarding silver other than I still love Hycroft Mining and I think I’ll be giving Wheaton Precious Metals (36% silver revenue, which is actually high) a closer look. They are the only Royalty company with fixed $5 an ounce contracts and because they, as a pass-through, apparently just sell at spot as soon as it comes in I’m wondering if a whole quarter above $100 doesn’t make them more interesting. It’s the safest metals play, but what if it also has sneaky delta?

Who doesn’t want to buy silver with 25x leverage or “pre-stock” Space-X, Anthropic or OpenAI at 3x? And while Big Brother and Uncle Sam presumably see all our windfall gains who’s to say some of them didn’t get dropped in the lake?

AI hype on the socials is lame until you really want to make something. It’s seriously never been a better time to be a person with a vague notion. I want to make the app I want to use, but Claude also whipped me up a .epub to AI read audiobook python script using the open source application Piper TTS which will be a game changer this summer when I’m working outside. Should I make a trading algo that runs my shithead entries and exits? No but Claude whipped me up a Pine script to backtest in TradingView and knows Hyperlink’s API documentation like the back of his hand so I really don’t have a choice.

This episode is focusing on: 1) the importance of the jacket, 2) handicapping the pound for pound value of bio-hacking tools from this list, another guy’s list on what comprises the elite man, 3) three man movies that I realized after recording all revolve around gambling and women but are really about self actualization, 4) the silver train that is still just now leaving the station and why I’m playing this “once in a lifetime” move with call options, and 5) a playlist of ten songs with no theme that I’ve been enjoying.

To sumarise, jackets good and very much worth the startup costs, but in case you aren’t convinced…

You want to buy physical gold and silver to forget about, silver mining shares, and I would posit call options on silver miners, specifically Coeur Mining (CDE). My options are currently split 45/45/10 between CDE, Hecla (HL), and EXK, SVM but while Hecla is compelling because it’s the “Mormon” producing the most domestic silver Coeur is just such a consistent stallion in 2025 and lately that it should be your first stop. Don Durrett (YouTube/Substack) is my north star here and I dove in because he said CDE was his top pick. That was +143% ago but his eventual price target is $70 which is 1000% higher so hanging around to see if it plays out.

Now I know what you’re thinking: metals and/or options are not for me, and I’m definitely not a Robinhood, much less an Interactive Brokers guy. But something worth noting before you dismiss this type of gambling for the rest of your life is the chart above. Option buyers (long and short) beat options sellers for the first time ever last quarter. Trump has big plans, AI is taking over, and maybe the dramatic changes that are coming have reared their head first in the options market. Here’s the best non-metals stock podcast episode I’ve heard in a while. The guest posits that maybe the AI guys that turned down Zuckerberg’s massive offer did so because they are printing money in the options market.

In hindsight my sizing on the $9.5 should have been higher, but even the “safer” $15 Jan27 calls have been moving. This type of volatility backed up by a macro theme that makes sense to me is why I find options currently so compelling.

Also, key is the fact that options on precious metals miners are so cheap compared to those for tech or other businesses. Anytime I find a company I’m interested I check their options and invariably the prices are 5x higher than any miner for the same date and delta (% between the strike price and the current price).

My other favorite guy in this area is Vince Lanci (ZeroHedge/Substack), he’s macro focused. His recent hype piece on $144 silver is particularly saliva inducing. Here’s his most recent (September 12th) post TD's Ghali: Silver Endgame Approaches.

For years these miners have been absolute dogs, PAAS and AG might still be, but if the price of oil doesn’t blow out they are a nice way to leverage the hopefully large move in silver itself. Throw some change at the most “out of the money” cheapest/highest strike price options and the volitilty skyrockets. Robinhood is probably the easiest way to do this but also the worst, still I can’t bear to use my IB account even though Robinhood rounds to the nearest nickel on some stocks CDE included, incredibly annoying.

Wall of Noise 1963, a horse trainer tries to make good, watch it now gratis on this doozie of a site. The film succeeds at everything it tries to do; immediate stakes and suspense via races/gambling, relationship/career fluctuation drama, and finally selling you that it knows everything about horses and racing back to front, all at a gallop.

Again push play here. Wagner is pretty great (it’s my podcast), Jill “the nose” St. John makes her precense felt, and futhermore you can’t be a Hackman completist until you’ve taken a swing at Banning 1967, glorious “golf noir”. Imprint says its Blu-Ray is sold out but I got a new copy on Ebay.

Charm to the max, I never would have thought I’d be this keen on an 80s movie set in the 60s. The director did a really big movie you’ve heard of and — The Flamingo Kid is perfect. I watched it with my family and they loved it, it’s a great father and son movie. Warning: Mrs. Wayne Gretzky melts your face off doing some high dives early on, thankfully Mom and Dad showed up a little late.

Went into my Ōura ring app to find similar nights to compare a sleep with no polymorph clip-ons to a night where I wore them. Normally 23 more minutes of "total duration" i.e. time in bed doesn't yield 65 more minutes of deep sleep.

I have a like/hate relationship with the Oura ring. Supposedly the finger (versus wrist) placement should make it more sensitive to the true state of the body, but it seems to lose contact for long stretches which results in bogus “awake” time. You could argue we know CPI and Employment numbers are fake/flawed but they are still useful as a baseline against which to judge changes, so that’s why I’ve recently started using my ring again.

I forgot to mention Amentum, an extremely interesting "UFO" stock. I think it continues to bleed out for a bit as the former owners sell their shares, but I’ll be looking to add it to my “Fake But Not Gay” portfolio if it reverses.

Other than AMTM the only other compelling name on my Watchlist is that most detestable of all cryptos Ripple which is surging in USD but still well below its XRP/BTC all-time high. The play there is if Powell, Trump, and Jamie Dimon can bring London low than maybe the normie’ favorite cryptos can suck up some of the pound’s middle-man FX business. PCT an iffy plastics recycler, Apollo because of Rowan’s seeming proximity to Trump, and the silver minor GATO are the only other names I’ll be beating myself up over if and when they pull a 2024 TSLA.

I’m a bit twitchy over Exxon as it was always my most boring pick, and Gold and Silver might get pared back for more TPL or a shiny ticker if the rest of the market runs away from my precious metals. On the downside I’m most interested to see how the heavy 15% on MicroStrategy hurts me and if I regret throwing 2.5% away on that BlackRock put.

Now that episode 14 is in the can I had the urge to track what I’ve already covered, beef up the notes, go full Blogger with images, and generally add any thoughts I’ve had since recording now that these episodes are on Substack as opposed to just Spotify.

Paul has dropped the Carnivore MD handle and is now just going by his Christian name on Instagram.

As much as enjoy audiobooks, I’ll concede that many times the TLDR suffices and that books are prone to error on the side of filler. However, if you are going to make a big dietary jump I think his Carnivore Code is worth listening to. It’s a one stop shop for why polyunsaturated fats and linoleic acid are so bad. As well as why average ground beef is better than premium pork and chicken (5 stomachs instead of 1), and how nuts and seeds as a “survival food” and seed oil as it’s concentrate tells your body to panic and hold onto every calorie instead of using it for energy.

It’s a little jarring to think that at one point Esquire and GQ were decent publications that had their moments. My Father’s Fashion Tips by Tom Junod is almost profound on multiple levels. Seeing as how GQ now has it behind a paywall use the link above.

All of his father’s tips are unassailable, here I pontificate on the importance of white shirting.

It’s fitting that if I only got one episode out the door that it would address my favorite and most underrated cultural entertainment, Whit Stillman’s Last Days of Disco 1998. It’s gotten 1000% more recognition recently compared when I started pushing it on friends.

I actually don’t go very in-depth and more just give a scattershot explanation of why it’s my third favorite movie, in between Casablanca and Star Wars, while emoting about why it means so much to me. The two following pods probably provide a better analysis, as I’m more focused on getting stuff off my chest/attempting a quick sales pitch.

Jack did an extremely fulfilling episode on Whit’s perfect trilogy, where if I remember correctly he loved them all, but gave Disco the most praise. Then curiously two months later Bill Simmons covered it on his Rewatchables pod, however it sounds like he saw it in the theater and championed it from the jump so good on him.

The soundtrack is as good as it get, but you don’t have to be a disco fan to appreciate the sheer bliss of what the rest of the film is dolling out.

The World For Sale follows a long line of alarmist finance books written by journalists looking to squeeze every nickle out of their day job. But, in this case the authors are a bit better than their peers, and the subject matter is both hugely consequential and not distilled elsewhere for those outside the industry.

The chart says my prediction for Glencore was basically wrong. In hindsight I’d say they probably did make loads of money from the volatility but somehow squirreled it away into other entities. Whether it’s Autonomy, real estate, or anything else the lesson here I think is to stay away from publicly available UK investment.

I pride myself on knowing a good thing when I see it and mother of pearl is Down and Out at the Poolhall exactly that. I didn’t fully appreciate Pretty Maids All in a Row when I had the playlist running non-stop the first time around, so for me this thing is still getting better.
